Every new parent knows the “knot.” Remember the first time you handed your baby over to a trusted babysitter or family member? They had offered (maybe even insisted) to take your child to give you a well-deserved break.
Your first thought: “Finally, some time to myself!”
Quickly followed by: “What if something happens? No one knows how to care for my child like I do. What will they do without me?”
The knot in your stomach tightens.
But, you don’t want to seem like an overbearing lunatic, do you? So, you let them drive off. Meanwhile, you spend your precious free time, slightly terrified, mulling over all the disasters that could befall them on their way to the park.
